Wishing to have articles published in magazines and on websites, I did some research online. Magazine writing was, of course, Louisa May Alcott’s bread and butter, even after her success with Little Women.
After spending about an hour searching with Google, I found that there are many possibilities both in print publications and websites for aspiring writers and professionals alike.
Here is a short list that I have compiled. As there are many more to explore, I am including the link to the Google search at the end of this post.
- History Today Magazine submission
- History News Network submission
- Smithsonian submission
- List of history-related magazines that pay
- 17 magazines that pay for writing about history
- 10 Magazines That Pay $500 or More
- 19 Websites and Magazines That Want to Publish Your Personal Essay
- 70+ publications that pay $1 per word (2017 edition)
- Google search: “submission policy history websites and magazines that pay”
