Sunday September 30, 2018 will live in my memory for a long time. This day we celebrated the 150th birthday of Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. The sparkling Autumn day was the backdrop for scores of Little Women fans — young and old, men and women, and all the lovely activities making for quite the party. From a gorgeous string quartet to a moving ballet telling the story of the classic book, to fun activities for children, to gooey and delicious sheet cake decorated for the occasion … it was a memorable day spent with many friends.
Sunday, September 30 also marks the release of Alcott’s Imaginary Heroes: The Little Women Legacy, published by Pink Umbrella Books. Several of us contributors were on hand (and it was great meeting Deb, Lorraine and Donna, as well as Merry Gordon and Adrienne Quintana of Pink Umbrella Books) to sign books. I hope you will buy a copy and experience these wonderful and very personal essays about what Little Women has meant from women around the world and from many walks of life.
Happy Birthday Little Women!
