Since I recently did a post on being inspired by Louisa’s need for a room of her own, I thought I’d share my room with you.
I claimed my son’s large basement bedroom and furnished it with a love seat, lounge chair and prints made of collages that I created from “The Most Beloved American Writer” series in the Woman’s Home Companion magazine from 1938 which I bought from Ebay (see previous post). The series was written by Katharine Anthony (featuring excerpts from her biography on Louisa May Alcott) with paintings and drawings of scenes from Little Women by Norman Rockwell.

That room puts me in the zone instantly! I call it my “lair.” I get a lot of work done down there. 🙂

I painted my room Easter egg blue and it has my antique bookcases, a signature from LMA, a cabinet card of LMA and other things from my childhood that I have fond memories of.
That sounds lovely! You have an authentic autograph? How cool is that??
That’s great. Those Norman Rockwell prints are some of my favorites, (except for that rat, Scrabble — I loved her in garret with apples, but could never quite get into the idea of that little companion). I can see how this inspires though!
We have mice in the basement (I don’t usually see them but the cats flush them out) and I can sometimes hear them in the walls. Eew. But as long as we don’t cross paths, I’m willing to co-exist. 🙂
love your decor. I have some of the same icons in mine, oddly. ! also realized I have the exact same 1st edition of Jo’s Boys you have, bought in Concord about 20 years ago…….another ‘odd.’
