Here is a fun way to experience Little Women. Organizer Larissa Martins Costa explains.
Have you ever wanted to experience Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women in real time? Now you can! Follow this link to subscribe to Letters from Little Women and receive periodic installments in your inbox, or continue reading to learn more.
What is “Letters from Little Women?”
Inspired by the many projects created since the original Dracula Daily in May 2022, Letters from Little Women will be a year-long read-through of Little Women: Part One.
Because the events in the book are dated and take place over the course of a year, we can actually experience this story as it unfolds. Letters from Little Women will send you an email each day something happens in the life of the March sisters, on the day it happens to them.
You can read the text straight from your inbox, or refer to your preferred edition, but the goal is the same: to experience this classic novel in a new way.
When will it take place?
The first entry will be sent on December 24, 2023, and the last will be sent on December 26, 2024 — essentially, the newsletter will run between Christmas 2023 and Christmas 2024.
Will we also be reading Part Two, also known as Good Wives?
Not at this time.
Is this a reading club?
Not quite! Folks are welcomed and encouraged to use the hashtag #lettersfromlw on any social media they happen to be on, but that is voluntary — you can sign up just for the emails.
Is this a one-time event?
Until further notice, yes. I’m not ruling out the possibility of another edition, but it is somewhat unlikely to happen, so I highly encourage you to join us this year if you are at all interested!
How can I catch up if I lag behind or sign up too late?
All entries will be dated and archived here.
How do I subscribe?
You can subscribe for free here!
Be sure to whitelist the email address to prevent it from getting lost in spam.
I hope you enjoy the experience!
