Begun in 2010, this blog offers analysis and reflection by Susan Bailey on the life, works and legacy of Louisa May Alcott and her family. Susan is an active member and supporter of the Louisa May Alcott Society, the Fruitlands Museum and Louisa May Alcott's Orchard House.
My husband and I spent a lovely day at Old Sturbridge Village in Sturbridge, MA. Old Sturbridge Village is an authentic recreation of a New England village in the 1830s. Louisa was born in 1832 and lived most of her life in New England so I thought you’d like to see pictures I took of our day at the village on a perfect autumn day.
I’ve never been, but it’s been on my to-visit list for several years. Lol. I live in Portland, Maine, so it would be a fun day trip. Thanks for sharing the photos … and if you ever go again, let me know! Would love to join you! 🙂
I will! It would be cool if we could arrange some field trips with people in the area. My dream? A bunch of us tour Orchard House with the idea that we merit the ‘advanced’ tour. 🙂 It would be great fun to really pick apart that house!
I love these pictures, thank you for posting them. So this is that October foliage in New England that you would like me and Adam experience with you as a guide? Can’t wait for that, hope it will be October when we do visit.
So wish I could be with you for that “advanced” Orchard House tour. Please take a lot of pictures, yourselves being in the pictures, so that I can see the real tour, not just the house. 🙂
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing these. 🙂
